When the “Bring a book, buy a book” sale was first established, there was a good amount of money made from the book sales. However, it seems that people buy the books and keep them, not returning them for someone else to read. I have personally restocked the book shelves twice, and all of those books have disappeared.
Even if you only pay a quarter for a book and return it for another person to buy, there would be a nice sum of money to be made. All the money from the book sales goes to St. Theodore's for some literary project. The Church Periodical Club is a ministry of books or communication materials only.
Please consider the next time you read a good book and would like to share it, bring it to St. Theodore's and place it on the book shelves in Sengel Hall for someone else to “buy”. If you buy one, return it when you are finished so that someone else may do the same.
I will be putting some books and tapes on the shelves shortly and ask that you continue to share them by making a donation for the books you take, reading them and placing them back on the shelves for someone else.
Thank you for your cooperation in this ongoing ministry.
